The police in Ogun State today freed the wife of retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, from the clutches of her kidnappers, seven days after she was taken away.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclosed this on Thursday on his X handle.
Mrs. Odumosu was abducted on January 16, 2025, at about 9:45pm at her Arepo home.
She was forcefully taken by four masked gunmen from her Lexus Jeep outside her residence in Arepo, Ogun State.
The shocking incident prompted the state Command’s anti-kidnapping unit to spring into action.
According to Adejobi, operatives, with support from technical intelligence platforms of the Force Headquarters, launched an extensive investigation and surveillance around the creeks of Arepo, where the kidnappers were believed to be operating.
He said “on January 23, 2025, at about 6:45 AM, police operatives stormed a swampy area in Ikorodu, Lagos State, following credible intelligence about the kidnappers’ hideout.
“Upon arrival, the kidnappers opened fire on the police team. In the ensuing gun duel, two of the gunmen were neutralized, while four others managed to escape, abandoning their weapons and other items.
“During the raid, Mrs. Odumosu was rescued unharmed from the kidnappers’ den. The police recovered four AK-47 rifles, three locally made single-barrel rifles, various ammunition, and the N10 million ransom earlier demanded by the kidnappers.”
