Chairman of a Community Development Association (CDA) in Ifo, Ifo local government area of Ogun State, Kuroloja Aderibigbe, has been arraigned before a magistrate court sitting in Ojodu Abiodun area of the state.
Aderibigbe, a pastor with the Living Truth Centre Church, was arraigned on a matter bothering on felony, breach of public peace and attempt to provoke one Funmi Obaseki to a fight duel.
The CDA Chairman, it was alleged, had placed a banner with inscription of Johnson street to replace the one bearing Mo Funmi Obaseki Crescent, as approved by Ifo Local Government Authority, on the entrance of the street.
The action, according to the court filing, contravenes the criminal code, under section 84 and punishable under the laws of Ogun state, Nigeria 2006.
The plaintiff had, in a judgement obtained at the High Court, Ifo indicating that the street should be named after Mo Funmi Obaseki Crescent, which hitherto nullified Johnson Street erected by the defendant.
Justice S T Bello in the judgement stated further that, “the 1st respondent has searched it’s records and there is no record of Johnson street in respect of the disputed ‘Mo Funmi Obaseki crescent’ in Ifo Local Government.
“The applicant, having duly applied for and met the requirements of street naming, the 1st respondent approved the name ‘Mo Funmi Obaseki crescent’.
” The 1st respondent will forthwith re-erect the sign post bearing ‘Mo Funmi Obaseki crescent’ having done the needful.
“The applicant shall bear the cost of N75,000 of a new sign post that will be re-erected by the local government which she had since complied with.”
The defendant was however granted bail in the sum of one hundred thousand naira, with one surety, just as hearing was adjourned till the 8th of July 2025.
