For Nigeria to truly progress as well as experience rapid development, Christians must participate in the electoral process.
Chaplain Prof. Olumuyiwa Samuel delivered this admonition at the 5th convocation of Chosen Life Christian University (CLICU) and the 10th induction ceremony of Institute of Christian Theologians, Scholars and Professionals (ICTSP) held at the Government House Chapel, Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital.
The colourful 2-in-1 events witnessed the conferrment of Diploma, Associate Bachelor, Bachelor, Masters, Doctorate and Professorship Appointment and Honorary awards to outstanding men of God and individuals within the Nigerian society.
Samuel, who is the President of CLICU, while speaking to journalists, said Christians must participate in the politics of the country.
He urged the people to vote their conscience, insisting that politicians will get what they deserve in the coming general elections.
“Every elections give Nigerians the opportunity to elect leaders that have met the criteria, leaders that have done what that have benefitted Nigerians.. I know very soon we will enter into campaign just as INEC timetable listed. The most important thing is that every politician will get result of what they have done in the last four years.”
The Provost of Chosen Life University, Dr. Babatunde Adetona, urged Nigerians to get their Permanent Voters Card in order to elect leaders that have fear of God.
He insisted that it is high time Christians stop running from politics
“I will urge every Nigerian, irrespective of their religion, to go out and get their PVC. Vote for men that has the fear of God, accountable and ready to serve. Look at their track record. As believers, we must not run away from politics, we should participate.”
The keynote Speaker and President of Envoys College of Theology and Christian Education, Prof. Tolulope Bolaji in his paper titled, “The positive impact of digititalization in growing 21st century Ministry”, urged the graduands to make use of the digital space to reach the global audience.
He urged them to ensure they pass the right message to the people through their social media platforms.
On the progress of CLICU and ICTSP, Prof. Samuel said God has given the two institutions over 100 acres of land named AMINland for the permanent site of our All Ministry International Networks (AMIN) “which will house our university’s campus and institute training centre”.
To hasten development, he said that the “Governing Council has decided to secure more for the purpose of leasing it out to Christian leaders who are interested in land to develop for the purpose of building hostels and others.
“This is a clarion call to anyone who is interested in land banking investment to secure their portion of land”.
The guest speaker, Simeon Awobode, urged the people in authorities to live a righteous lives, saying righteousness exhalt a nation.
He said Nigerians must seek God’s face for divine intervention.
He also urged the graduands to be giver and live an exemplary life.
The graduands thanked God for seeing them through the journey, urging Christians to seek more knowledge about Christ.
The major highlight of the ceremonies was the cutting of cake to commemorate the day.
Speaking on his honourary award, Chaplain Pastor Babarinde Adesola thanked the institution for the honour.
