The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) recently concluded its induction retreat in Uyo in Akwa Ibom State under the chairmanship of Chief Idris Olorunnimbe.
The retreat provided an opportunity for the Board to deliberate on Management’s strategic, focuses and reaffirm the Commission’s critical role as a catalyst for Nigeria’s digital economy.
The retreat featured distinguished experts as facilitators. These include sessions by Mrs. Yetunde Akinloye, who led a close review of the Nigerian Communications Act (2003); Paul Usoro SAN, who shared reflections on effective board governance and oversight within a national telecommunications regulator; Professor Hyacinth Nwana, who brought an international lens to the role of the regulator and the future of regulation; and Prof. Fabian Ajogwu SAN, who grounded the Board on core corporate governance principles.
Participants described the sessions as rigorous and candid, anchored on strong governance, regulatory credibility, and a sharper focus on outcomes for consumers, industry, and Nigeria’s digital economy—matters at the heart of the Commission’s strategic focus.
