Nigerian entertainer Uche Ibeto, popularly known as The Jigida Queen, has called on Abuja-based lawyer, Victor Giwa to “face his trial in court instead of embarking on a media blackmail campaign.”
Her statement comes in response to a video circulating online in which Mr. Giwa alleged persecution by the FCT Judiciary and the Nigeria Police Force.
According to Ms. Ibeto, the video is “cheap propaganda” aimed at intimidating the justice system and evading accountability.
Ms. Ibeto said she has been following the ongoing criminal cases in the FCT where Victor Giwa and his associate, property developer Cecil Ezem Osakwe are standing trial on allegations of forgery, unlawful eviction, impersonation, and malicious damage in an unrelated matter involving Ms. Asabe Waziri.
She described the development as “gladdening,” saying she too is a victim of the alleged actions of the same individuals.
“I salute the courage of Ms. Asabe Waziri for standing up to bullies,” she said. “I understand your pains because I suffered the same ordeal in their hands. I stand firmly in solidarity with you.”
Ms. Ibeto thanked the Inspector General of Police and the AIG Legal for “a job well done” and urged authorities to give similar attention to her own petitions, which she says have been pending since August.
Ms. Ibeto’s statement revisits her earlier allegations concerning her late mother’s property at 36 Ibezim Obiajulu Street, Surulere, Lagos.
She reiterated that:
• Her mother died intestate in 2013
• Letters of administration were granted to her two elder sisters for personal property only, not the house
• She lived with her mother in the property for decades and holds the original title documents
According to her, she was never informed of any sale or legal proceedings relating to the property.
She alleges that a judgment delivered on 10 July 2025 in Suit No: LD/9481GCM/2025: between Cecil Ezem Osakwe and her two sisters, was “fraudulently obtained” through false documents, impersonation, and lack of proper service.
She maintains she was not joined in the suit, nor were tenants in the building.
Ms. Ibeto recounted that on 15 August 2025, she was forcibly evicted at dawn by policemen, thugs and sheriffs who claimed to be enforcing the Lagos High Court judgment.
She alleges that:
• The operation was led by Barrister Victor Giwa
• She was threatened, harassed, and thrown out while still in her nightwear
• Her properties worth “over ₦500 million” were stolen or destroyed
• Tenants’ properties were sealed in their apartments
• Illegal construction began immediately after the eviction
According to her, one sister denied ever participating in any sale or lawsuit, stating this openly to those present during the eviction.
Ms. Ibeto’s statement lists multiple grounds on which she believes the judgment was improperly obtained, including:
• A claim that the same legal team appeared to have prepared filings for both sides
• Alleged lack of proper service on one of the defendants
• Undated contracts presented as sale documents
• A land registry search allegedly showing that the instrument relied upon in court belonged to an entirely different property in Alimosho
• A “speed-of-light” case concluded in less than one month
She further alleged that the eviction was carried out in a “clandestine manner” without lawful basis.
Ms. Ibeto also alleged that her petition to Zone 2 Police Command in Lagos was hindered due to the alleged involvement of a senior police officer, whom she claims is linked to one of the defendants.
She said this interference emboldened the alleged perpetrators and led to repeated break-ins at the property despite police warnings for all parties to stay away.
She appealed to:
• The Lagos State Government
• The Chief Justice of Nigeria
• The Inspector General of Police
• The Attorney General of the Federation
• The National Assembly
• The Nigerian Bar Association
to intervene and ensure that the petitions, investigations, and ongoing prosecutions are allowed to proceed without obstruction.
“Let Him Defend Himself in Court”
Ms. Ibeto urged the public and authorities not to be swayed by what she described as Mr. Giwa’s “campaign of calumny.”
“Victor Giwa should face his trial in a court of law, not in the media. He is not above the law,” she said.
She reaffirmed her belief that justice must prevail not only for herself but for all others who have made similar allegations.
Since her eviction on 15 August, Ms. Ibeto says she has been “perching from place to place,” with her health deteriorating.
“At my age, I need to return to my home and resume my life,” she said.
“I thank my fans, the Nigerian Police, and the media for standing by me and amplifying my voice.”
