A new initiative, the Jos Studies Hub (JSH), is officially launched today, promising to become a vital engine for intellectual discourse, collaborative research, and community-driven solutions focused on Plateau State, North Central Nigeria, and the nation at large. Pioneered by The Tattaaunawa Roundtable Initiative (TRICentre), the JSH is an interdisciplinary, “glocal” platform designed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical action.
The Jos Studies Hub is a dynamic and inclusive collective of academics, practitioners, scholars, activists, students, policymakers, artists, and educators. Rooted in Jos, Plateau State, but with a vision extending across North Central Nigeria and the entire nation, JSH is committed to fostering a deeper understanding of the complex challenges and opportunities facing the region.
“The Jos Studies Hub represents a critical step in fostering informed and impactful dialogue on issues that are central to our communities and our nation,” states Prince Charles Dickson, Convener of the Jos Studies Hub and Team Lead of The Tattaaunawa Roundtable Initiative (TRICentre).“We believe that by bringing together diverse voices from both academia and the wider community, we can generate innovative solutions and contribute to a more prosperous and equitable future for Plateau State and Nigeria.”
The core mission of the JSH is to deepen the rigor of contemporary discourse on pressing issues. It is dedicated to creating a vibrant space for critical exchange between “town and gown,” actively cultivating dialogue between academic expertise and the lived experiences of those working on the ground.
JSH believes that truly impactful solutions are born from thought-provoking questions and the rigorous exploration of complex challenges from multiple perspectives, moving beyond problem identification to collaboratively forge solution-based answers that are both theoretically sound and practically relevant.
Operating as a member-run organization, JSH is powered by the passion and dedication of its community. With no paid staff, the Hub emphasizes the voluntary spirit of its members, including the Board of Trustees of TRICentre and all volunteer contributors. All funds raised by JSH are transparently and directly channeled into the execution of diverse and impactful projects, ensuring every contribution translates into tangible action and positive change for the communities it serves.
The Jos Studies Hub warmly welcomes partnerships from individuals, agencies, and institutions who share its vision and are eager to collaborate in advancing knowledge and fostering positive change. JSH recognizes the power of collective action and the necessity of diverse expertise and shared commitment for meaningful progress.
Individuals and institutions are invited to become vital members of the JSH community and contribute to shaping a brighter future through various membership tiers designed to accommodate diverse levels of engagement:
“We invite all those passionate about Plateau State, North Central Nigeria, and Nigeria as a whole to join us in building the Jos Studies Hub,” added Prince Charles Dickson. “Together, we can delve deeper, think critically, and work collaboratively to build a brighter, more informed, and more prosperous future for our region and beyond.”
