The HID Awolowo Foundation has extended congratulations to Prof. Wale Adebanwi, on his recent prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship award.
Adebanwi, a US-based Nigerian professor and distinguished member of the advisory board of the HID Awolowo foundation, bagged the Guggenheim Fellowship, awarded on the basis of prior career achievement and exceptional promise.
In a statement by Dr Olatokunbo Awolowo- Dosumu, its Executive Director, the foundation described the fellowship award as a testament to Adebanwi’s profound contributions and unwavering commitment to scholarship.
In the statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, the foundation noted the awardee’s exemplary output in the field of African Studies, particularly his impactful contributions to social, political, and cultural issues in, and on, Africa.
The Foundation added that Adebanwi’s rigorous scholarship aligns with the values and visions of Chief Obafemi Awolowo and Yeye Oodua, Chief Mrs HID Awolowo.
It added that the Guggenheim recognition was a heartwarming continuation of the legacy of commitment to the development of Africa and its values as championed by the two great leaders.
The Guggenheim award, according to the foundation, was one more validation of Professor Adebanwi’s position as a serious-minded, focused intellectual and a leading light in his field.
