Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest wing-back Ola Aina named the toughest opponent he had ever faced during his illustrious career and his answer may not come as a surprise.
Aina made this disclosure during a quick-fire question session shared by Nottingham Forest’s social media page.
The Nigerian international was asked several questions and one of them was the player that he dreaded most as a defender.
When asked the toughest player he has ever faced, without much hesitation, he said, “Cristiano Ronaldo.”
The Nigerian and the Portuguese players came up against each other during their time in the Italian Serie A.
Aina was at Torino while Ronaldo was with Juventus during the time, which made them city rivals.
The Nigerian joined Torino in 2018 from Chelsea on a loan deal before making a permanent move in 2019, which coincided with Ronaldo’s move to Serie A from Real Madrid.
Ronaldo came out on top in the contest with the Nigerian; he scored three goals in four meetings.
Although both players returned to the Premier League—Ronaldo with Manchester United and Aina with Forest—their paths never crossed as the Portuguese left Old Trafford early.
The Nottingham Forest utility player was asked other questions, but another one that caught fans’ attention was when asked about the best footballer he played with in his career.
“I wouldn’t say the best, but I’ll probably put Eden Hazard.”
Aina played alongside the former Belgian international during his time with his boyhood club, Chelsea.
So far this season, the 27-year-old has made 20 appearances in the Premier League scoring one goal and providing an assist.
