The National Leadership of The Companion — an Association of Muslim Men in Business and the Professions — has congratulated one of Nigeria’s foremost legal icons, Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali, SAN, on the joyous occasion of his 70th birthday.
The Companion, in a statement issued by its National Amir Sheikh Najeem Jimoh and Publicity Secretary, Prof Tunde Akanni, said attaining the age of seventy is, in itself, a profound blessing from Almighty Allah.
“For Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali, however, this milestone is much more than the celebration of longevity; it is the celebration of a life remarkably devoted to faith, justice, scholarship, philanthropy and exemplary service to humanity,” the statement said.
“Over several decades, Professor Ali has distinguished himself as one of Nigeria’s finest legal practitioners and a legal luminary whose contributions have profoundly enriched the nation’s jurisprudence.
“As a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, he has consistently demonstrated uncommon professional excellence, integrity and intellectual depth, earning the respect of the Bench, the Bar and the wider society.
“Beyond the courtroom, Professor Ali has remained a frontline Muslim leader whose commitment to the advancement of Islam has been unwavering. His leadership within the Muslim community has been characterised by wisdom, moderation, courage and an abiding commitment to the ideals of justice, compassion and communal development.
“He has continued to inspire generations of Muslim professionals through a life that beautifully integrates faith with public responsibility.
“The Companion particularly celebrates his immense contributions to legal scholarship. As a distinguished author, Professor Ali has produced numerous authoritative books and scholarly works, especially in the fields of law, constitutionalism and anti-corruption.
“These publications have become valuable reference materials, widely cited by scholars, students, practitioners and policy experts within and beyond Nigeria. His intellectual legacy stands as an enduring investment in the nation’s legal and governance architecture.
“Equally inspiring is his philanthropy. Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali has consistently deployed his resources, influence and time to support educational causes, community development initiatives and humanitarian interventions. His generosity has quietly transformed lives and opened doors of opportunity for countless individuals across different communities.
“Yet, perhaps one of his greatest endearing qualities is his humility. Despite his towering accomplishments and national stature, Professor Ali remains remarkably warm, approachable and gracious. His simplicity, kindness and respect for people, irrespective of status, have made him not only a celebrated advocate but also a beloved mentor and statesman.
“As an association committed to promoting excellence, integrity and service among Muslim professionals, The Companion is proud to identify with Professor Yusuf Olaolu Ali as a worthy role model whose life embodies the values we cherish.
“We pray that Allah (SWT) grants our distinguished elder statesman continued sound health, renewed strength, abundant barakah and many more years of impactful service to Islam, Nigeria and humanity. May He continue to increase him in wisdom, protect his family, preserve his legacy and reward his lifelong sacrifices with Al-Jannah Firdaus.
