Prof. Olaiya Abideen Olaitan has been appointed Mogaji Oroye Family of Oke Olu Okun Ibadan.
A distinguished scholar and an exemplary leader, he embodies the values of knowledge, dedication and service that everyone holds in high esteem.
Born in the mid 1960’s to Sanusi Odebode arm of Oroye Family, Oke olu okun Ibadan , his journey has been one of unwavering commitment to both academic excellence, religious and community service. His academic qualifications are a testament to his relentless pursuit of knowledge, culminating in a Ph.D. in Horticulture/Crop Physiology earned in 2006 from the University of Ibadan.
Prof. Olaiya’s professional journey has seen him traverse prestigious institutions such as the Polytechnic, Ibadan, Federal University of Technology, Akure, University of Ibadan, Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria, Al Hikmah University, Ilorin, Crescent University, Abeokuta, Federal University of Agriculture and recently University of Ilorin. His tenure as a lecturer and researcher has left an indelible mark on the academic world, where he has shared his wealth of knowledge with students and colleagues alike.
Beyond the classroom, his contributions extend to special international assignments and local community service that demonstrate his commitment to the betterment of the society and humanity at large.
From serving as Imam at the Polytechnic, Ibadan, FUTA, Akure and FUNAAB, Abeokuta respectively , he also plays a similar role as Chairman CRIN Muslim Community from 1999 – 2007, and presently Chairman /Imam of As-Salaam Housing Estate, Ibadan . He was Foundation Chairman and current BOT Chairman of the FUNAAB Non-Interest Cooperative Society. Foundation Chairman and present BOT Secretary of Political Awareness Group of Oyo State. He co-founded CTY Group of Schools, Al Hijrah College and Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture in Africa to become great Educational and Agricultural Consultant of International repute. Prof Olaiya’s dedication to community welfare is both inspiring and commendable.
Prof Olaiya mixes freely with everyone, always available to help in providing ideas and resources to solve any matters of importance to the members of the family and the community at large. He has been contributing to the development of the family needs and supports/attending our annual Oroye day celebration with members of nuclear family. With Prof Olaiya as Mogaji for our family, he is going to do us proud as an important factor in Ibadan chieftaincy and bring progressive development to our family.
In the spirit of leadership, he has also held numerous positions in academic and research institutions, including being Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Research Institutions and HOD Agronomy Division at Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria. He was appointed as Coordinator and HOD of Biological Sciences Department of Al Hikmah University and Crescent University respectively. In the spirit of community development, Prof Olaiya also made himself available for political leadership and he is presently one of the National and State leader of APC,
Prof Olaiya is the Chairman of Mutakif Partners Investment Club, Principal Partner of Farmdrive Nigeria and Exence Pick Nigeria Limited and Chairman BOT of the Proposed Al Ummah University, Nigeria.
In addition to his professional and community achievements, Prof. Abideen is married and blessed with children, exemplifying the values of commitment, love, and responsibility in his role as a husband, father and leader who has always left indelible footprints on the sands of time everywhere he was called to service.
