Thirteen professors will be inducted into the Fellowships of the Nigerian Academy of Letters at an induction ceremony holding at the University of Lagos on August 14.
Six distinguished Nigerians in the Media, Arts and Culture space are also going to be honoured as Honorary Fellows of the Academy.
The list of honorees was released in a statement issued by President of Academy, Professor Sola Akinrinade, FNAL.
The statement, titled, Election of New Fellows, Honorary Fellows and Awards of Excellence in Humanistic Practice, reads:
“At its meeting of Tuesday, 8 July 2025, the College of Fellows of the Nigerian Academy of Letters approved the election of the following as Regular and Overseas Fellows of the Academy in 2025:
A. Classical Studies, Philosophy and Religions
1. Professor Ebunoluwa Olufemi Oduwole
2. Professor Temisanren Ebijuwa
B. Historical Studies
3. Professor Emeritus Alkasum Abba
C. Literary Studies
4. Professor Gbemisola Aderemi Adeoti

D. Cultural Studies, Creative Writing, Theatre, Visual and Performing Arts

Earlier the same day, the Executive Committee approved the following as Honorary Fellows of the Academy for the year:
1. His Majesty, Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe, CFR, mni, Obi of Onitsha, Agbogidi
2. Mr. Jahman Oladejo Anikulapo
3. Dr. Lasisi Olagunju
The Executive Committee also approved the recommendations of the Screening
Committee for the conferment of the Awards of Excellence in Humanistic Practice of the Academy on the following:
1. Mr. Laolu Ogunniyi
2. Alhaji Teju Wasee Kareem
3. Mr. Musa Alao Adedayo
The Investiture of the new Fellows and Conferment of Awards will hold during the 27th Convocation of the Academy on 14th August 2025 at the University of Lagos.
