The Management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has responded to the viral narration of a Lagos resident regarding alleged callous treatment of a father by LASTMA operatives at Surulere.
In the narration, Mr Offor stated how he saved a man who was arrested by LASTMA officials during a quick stop to buy inhaler for his asthmatic son. He also stated how he evacuated the child to the hospital, paid for his treatment and went to the LASTMA Surulere office to recover the man’s impounded vehicle.
However, LASTMA, in a statement issued by Mr Adebayo Taofiq, its Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, said there was no record to show the incident happened.
The organisation, which asked Mr Offor to help it with more information, said it’s findings show that no Faithview Hospital” exists within the Surulere axis, as referenced in the post.

The Management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) acknowledges a social media post by Mr. Chiemelle Kyriam Offor alleging misconduct by unidentified LASTMA officers in the Iponri area of Surulere on Wednesday, 18th June 2025.
Upon formal notification of these allegations, LASTMA immediately initiated a comprehensive internal review. This included:
- Detailed debriefing of all officers assigned to the Surulere/Iponri corridor.
- Scrutiny of duty rosters, operational logs, and deployment records.
- Efforts to contact Mr. Offor via his Twitter (X) handle to request essential details (vehicle registration, officer descriptions, or evidence) to facilitate investigation.

- No operational records or personnel accounts corroborate the described incident.
- Mr. Offor has not yet provided substantiating details or evidence despite our request.
- Physical verification confirmed no “Faithview Hospital” exists within the Surulere axis, as referenced in the post.
