President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday received Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, at the State House, Abuja, barely five days after the governor secured a second term in office.
Adeleke, who arrived at the State House at about 5:20 p.m, was driven through the forecourt directly to the President’s office, where he immediately went into a closed-door meeting with Tinubu.
The purpose of the meeting was not immediately disclosed
However Adeleke was reported to have presented his Certificate of Return to Tinubu during the meeting.
Adeleke defeated the candidate of the APC in the keenly contested August 15 governorship election.
He immediately proclaimed his support for Tinubu’s reelection in the coming 2027 presidential election,
amid political realignments ahead of the elections.
Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after polling 511,067 votes.
He defeated his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 444,815 votes, giving the incumbent governor a winning margin of 66,252 votes.
Tinubu wasted little time to congratulate Adeleke, describing his election victory as a “fitting assurance” that democracy would continue to flourish under his administration.
“His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him,” the statement quoted Tinubu as saying.

“I wish him great success as he prepares to lead the state for the next four years. Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election,” the president said.
