The Osun State Muslim Community, under the leadership of its President, Alhaji Mustafa Adeleke Olawuyi, has extended warm felicitations to Governor Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, on his resounding re-election victory at yesterday’s gubernatorial polls.
While acknowledging the spirited and competitive nature of the election process, the Community commend all stakeholders, political parties, electoral officials, security personnel, and the voting populace, for their commitment to democratic principles and peaceful conduct throughout this exercise in democratic governance.
The Community, in a statement issued by Alhaji Olawuyi, said Adeleke’s re-election is a clear affirmation of the trust and confidence reposed in him by the good people of Osun State.
“The Muslim community recognizes this democratic mandate and pledges its unwavering support for his development agenda aimed at improving the welfare and prosperity of all residents, regardless of religious, ethnic, or political affiliation,” the statement said.
“This victory belongs not to any individual or party alone, but to the collective democratic conscience of our people who have spoken through their ballots.
“Today marks not merely the conclusion of an election, but the beginning of a new chapter of collective responsibility. As the spiritual conscience of our state, the Muslim community appeals to all stakeholders, including opposition parties, political contestants, and their supporters, to embrace the spirit of reconciliation and put aside post-election grievances for the greater good of Osun State.
“The elections have been held, the results are in, and now we must all turn our faces toward the future with renewed commitment to peace and national development.
“The principle of democratic competition teaches us that there is no victor and no vanquished in a truly mature democratic society. Democracy thrives when the victorious govern with magnanimity and the defeated accept results with dignity, maintaining their role as constructive critics and stakeholders in the nation-building process.
“Our diversity of political views reflects our maturity as a people; let us channel this diversity toward constructive dialogue rather than destructive division. Furthermore, as Muslims bound by our faith, we are governed by the Qur’anic principles of justice and social cohesion. These principles must guide our conduct in this post-election period and remind us that our ultimate allegiance is to the prosperity and peace of all people in Osun State.
“To His Excellency, Governor Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, the Muslim community extends our counsel and support as you embark on your second tenure. We urge Your Excellency to lead with the magnanimity befitting your office and to extend genuine olive branches to political opponents who contested in good faith.
“The development agenda before you is vast, from critical infrastructure to quality education, affordable healthcare, and genuine economic opportunity, and these must be pursued with fairness and equity across all communities and constituencies, ensuring that no citizen feels abandoned because of their electoral choices.
“We further urge you to strengthen the vital dialogue between government and faith-based organizations, to recommit steadfastly to the rule of law and the protection of fundamental rights for all citizens, and to ensure that your administration becomes a symbol of inclusive governance and transparent stewardship.
“To our Christian brothers and sisters, to traditionalists, and to all citizens of Osun State regardless of creed or political leaning, we extend an invitation to collective responsibility. This election has clarified the people’s choice, and we must now focus our combined energy on the dual imperatives of holding our government accountable to its promises while supporting genuine development initiatives that benefit all.
“Political participation does not end at the voting booth; it continues through vigilant citizenship and constructive engagement with those in power. We must all become stakeholders in the success of Osun State, not spectators to its fate.”
The Osun State Muslim Community pledged to serve as a bridge-builder between government and the people, to promote interfaith dialogue and social harmony in this critical season, and to advocate relentlessly for justice, transparency, and good governance.
It pledged to deploy its grassroots networks and moral authority to promote peace and discourage any voices of violence or incitement, and we stand ready to support developmental initiatives that genuinely uplift all citizens without discrimination.
“The Muslim community will be the conscience of our state, reminding all of us of our higher calling to unity and progress,” the statement said.
“It must be noted that the Almighty has preserved our state from the electoral violence witnessed in other parts of our nation. This is a blessing we must protect jealously and gratefully. As the Qur’an teaches us in Chapter 4, Verse 135: “O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it is against yourselves or parents and relatives.” Let us all be witnesses to justice, transparency, and peaceful coexistence in the days and months ahead.
“The ink on the ballot papers has dried and the results are known. But the true work of democracy, governing justly, serving faithfully, and building prosperity together, now begins in earnest. The Muslim community of Osun State stands ready and willing to partner with Governor Adeleke and all patriotic citizens in this noble endeavor of nation-building and the advancement of our beloved state.
“May Allah, the All-Knowing and All-Wise, grant our Governor the wisdom to rule with justice, protect all citizens irrespective of their electoral choices, and lead Osun State to greater heights of development, peace, and prosperity. May He unite our hearts in common purpose and bless our state with harmony and progress.”
