About 30 families received various forms of material support from the Foundation, as the Board and management of the Sakirat Atanda Hope Foundation (SAHF) held the second edition of its annual Ramadan Lecture in Lagos at the weekend.
The theme of the lecture, which was delivered by Dr Rasaq Bolawaye Uthman, Missioner and Imam, Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Ipaja, was “Islamic Mode of dressing as antidote to indecent behaviour.”
Speaking at the well attended programme held at the FARZ Event Place, Ashipa, Ayobo-Lagos, Dr Uthman explained the importance of modesty in dressing, saying this has both religious, cultural and social implications.
He explained how indecent dressing has led some people to ruin while some have good fortune through appropriate dressing. He advised the youth not to get carried away by the pressure of western values promoted through the media and to safeguard their own future through proper dressing.
The lecturer also praised the organisers of the event for their contribution to social harmony, saying the works of the Foundation should serve as a good example for others to follow.
The lecturer, who said the theme could not have been better chosen, said its significance could be better appreciated because it came during the holy month of Ramadan.
Ramadan, he said, teaches us lessons about how to live within reason and how to appreciate the life of the less privileged in the society and not constitute nuisance to other members of the society.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Foundation, Mr Olayiwola Atanda reiterates that the gathering was held in loving memory of the family’s late beloved matriarch, Mrs Atanda Sakirat Omolabake Abiodun.
