The Patron of Tinubu National Think-Tank, a political pressure group, Jelili Kayode Amusan has declared his interest in the Ogun State 2027 governorship race under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).
Amusan, who made the declaration in a statement made available to journalists in Abeokuta, explained that his ambition is inspired by the need to contribute meaningfully to the development of Ogun State.
“My intention to join the governorship race as the Patron of Tinubu National Think-Tank and Founder of JKA Support Group For PBAT Till 2031 Movement is greatly inspired by the PBAT Renewed Hope Agenda, with the objective of sustaining the achievements of the current administration and ensuring that our people continue to experience the true dividends of democracy, ” he said.
“The former two-term member of the House of Representatives, who represented Odeda, Obafemi-Owode and Abeokuta North Federal Constituency, emphasized that he is no stranger to high-stakes political contests.
Amusan has contested twice for the Ogun Central Senatorial district and twice as a governorship aspirant, building a wide political network and consolidating grassroots structures across the state.
‘While I sincerely have the interest to contest the Governorship race of Ogun State come 2027, I remain committed, as a responsible and law-abiding citizen, to follow due process and strictly adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act and the APC party Constitution’, he said.
He said he anchored his decision on his two-term legislative experience at the federal level, where he contributed to lawmaking and constituency development initiatives.
The statement added that beyond politics, his decades of successful private sector business management experience, which he believes has equipped him with the administrative capacity, financial discipline and strategic planning skills required to govern a dynamic state like Ogun state.
He highlighted his reputation as a grassroots listener who engages directly with communities, artisans, youth, farmers and traditional institutions to understand their concerns before designing policy solutions.
He added that his ambition is not driven by personal gain but by a bold vision to reposition Ogun State as a leading economic hub in Nigeria.
He listed his key priorities to include tackling unemployment through industrial expansion, entrepreneurship support and skill acquisition programmes; improving access to quality education by upgrading infrastructure and investing in teachers’ development; strengthening security through collaboration with security agencies and community stakeholders.
The others: are boosting agricultural production by supporting farmers with modern tools and financing to enhance food security; improving healthcare delivery through upgraded facilities; and expanding infrastructure and transportation networks to create a more business-friendly environment.
Amusan stressed that Ogun possesses enormous economic potentials due to its strategic location and industrial advantage, but that deliberate, transparent and inclusive leadership is required to fully unlock these opportunities.
