President Bola Tinubu has extended warm greetings to Christians and Muslims as Lent and Ramadan begin today a rare coincidence that underscores our shared faith and unity.
In a State House statement, President Tinubu described the overlap as a reminder that Nigerians are “one people under God.”
For Christians, he noted Lent as a season of fasting, abstinence, and penitence, emulating Jesus Christ’s time in the wilderness before His crucifixion and salvation for humanity.
For Muslims, Ramadan embodies total submission to God through sacrifice, devotion, service, and communal love one of Islam’s five pillars, calling for deep spiritual reflection beyond obligatory fasting.
The President urged all Nigerians to embrace good neighbourliness, promote peace, unity, and stability, and pray for the nation’s progress and security.
He called on citizens to live by their faiths’ precepts in service to God and humanity, wishing enduring lessons, blessings, and joys from these sacred seasons.
The statement is signed by Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
