The Ondo State Police Command under the leadership of CP Adebowale Lawal, in its proactive policing and continued efforts to rid the State of cult-related activities and other criminal elements, successfully raided a suspected cultism black spot at Arakale area of Akure at the weekend.
On 10th February, 2026 at about 2300hrs, a team of Tactical Intelligence Responses Squad (TIRS) stormed the location following credible intelligence on cult activities in the area. During the operation, three suspects believed to be members of the Supreme Eiye Confraternity were apprehended.
The suspects are Damilola, aka “2Gbaski,” aged 34 years, Uthman aged 29 years and Akinwale. A thorough search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of the following items:
• One axe
• One beret cap
• One Retevis walkie-talkie
• Sachets of tramadol
• Substance suspected to be marijuana
• Ice bunker
The suspects are currently in custody and have made confessional statements confirming their involvement in cult-related activities and other criminal acts within the State. Investigation is ongoing to unravel other possible accomplices and recover additional exhibits. Upon conclusion of the investigation, the suspects will be charged to court accordingly.
The Ondo State Police Command remains resolute in its determination to dismantle cult networks and ensure the safety and security of all residents. Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and continue to support the Police with useful information.
The Commissioner also expressed his appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, for his strategic leadership and continuous support in providing operational guidance and resources that have significantly enhanced the Command’s anti-cultism operations.
CP Lawal advises youths to shun all forms of cultism, emphasizing that there is no gain in engaging in such acts, as they only lead to grave consequences.
Conclusively, the Commissioner reassures residents of Ondo State of the Command’s proactive commitment to maintaining a peaceful and crime-free environment. He further urges members of the public to continue to provide credible and actionable information that will aid the Police in combating crimes and criminalities across the State.
