The Pan African Writers Association (PAWA) and the Academy of the Kingdom Of Morocco have successfully organized a symposium under the theme: Rewriting of African Independences: From Manchester Congress ( 15 -21 October 1945 to the Casablanca Conference of 4 January 1961).
The one day symposium, which took place at the Royal Institute for Research on the History of Morocco, Rabat, brought together writers, historians, students and literary scholars who delivered thought provoking lectures.
While welcoming delegates to the symposium, the Permanent Secretary of the Royal Academy, Mr Abdeljalil Lahjomri emphasized the need for African scholars to build on the progress already made by African leaders at the epochal Manchester and Casablanca conferences.
In his introductory remarks, the PAWA Secretary General, Dr Wale Okediran thanked the Academy of the Kingdom Of Morocco for its continous partnership with PAWA.
Dr Okediran reminded the audience that the history of African development cannot be complete without the recognition of the contributions made by African creatives, especially writers.
He emphasized that PAWA, as one of the functional and active Pan African operatives on the African continent will continue to play its role in the preservation of Africa’s history and dignity.
At the end of the successful discourse, participants at the Conference were unanimous on the need for similar minded Pan African organizations to continue their collaborations to tackle the myriads of challenges currently facing the continent.
