A Dangote driver lost control of his truck early Wednesday morning and killed three people at the Meiran bus stop in Lagos.
The victims, including a secondary teacher working with the Lagos State Government, were crushed to death when the truck, loaded with cement, crashed into buses buses parked at the Meiran junction of the Lagos Abeokuta Expressway.
Survivors said a commercial mini-bus and four commercial tricycle were crushed by the out of control truck. It also destroyed part of the building of the Meiran Primary Health Centre.
The Dangote truck was said to be coming from the company’s cement factory in Ogun State before the driver lost control and veered onto the Meiran Road where it crashed into vehicles lined up to pick passengers at the bus stop.
The driver and the motor boy escaped from the scene.
Gazellenews identified the teacher as a staff at the District Senior Secondary School in Meiran.
“The teacher was going to resume work and participate in the school’s end of the year activities. Now the party has been postponed because the school has been thrown into mourning,” one of colleagues told the medium.
