The African Democratic Congress in Obafemi Owode Local Government on Friday recorded a major boost as key Labour Party leaders formally joined its fold. The delegation, led by Mr Olufemi Thomas Afolabi, was received warmly by the ADC local government chairman, Alhaji Lasisi Ramon, popularly known as Aimasiko.
The reception took place at the ADC secretariat in Owode Egba, where party executives, stakeholders, and supporters gathered to witness what they described as a significant step for the party ahead of future elections.
Aimasiko praised the team for choosing the ADC as their new political home, noting that the party remains open to progressive minds who can strengthen its presence across the twelve wards of the local government.
During the meeting, Afolabi reaffirmed his commitment to contributing meaningfully to the development of the party. He used the occasion to officially declare his intention to run for a seat in the Ogun State House of Assembly under the ADC banner.
He assured party members of his readiness to work closely with the leadership to advance the party’s growth. He highlighted plans to support the establishment of vibrant party secretariats across all wards, stressing that the ADC must remain organised, visible, and competitive.
Party members described the defection as a positive development, adding that the arrival of Hon. Afolabi and his team signals new energy for the “ADC… Arise and Shine Nigeria” movement within Obafemi Owode.
