The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Professor Abdulgafar Siyan Oyeweso has died.
According to a statement issued by his younger brother, Olawale Oyeweso, Professor Oyeweso died on Tuesday, 2nd of December, 2025 at the age of 64, after a brief illness.
Family sources said the late academic suffered a massive stroke two weeks ago and did not survive the effect.
Oyeweso, a renowned Professor of history, educator and mentor is survived by wife, children and family members.
His remains will be buried in his country home, Ede, by 4pm today after solat Ashri.
He was, until his death, the Provost of Post-Graduate College of the Osun State University.
