The African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogun State Chapter has berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) for describing the party as unknown, saying this was reckless and laughable.
The Bye election for the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency holds tomorrow.
The Publicity Secretary of ADC, Olumide Onabajo in a statement on Abeokuta, equally alleged that the APC was using the police to stop the campaign of the ADC.
The statement reads: “The attention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Ogun State Chapter has been drawn to the reckless and laughable statement credited to the Ogun State Government claiming that the ADC is “not a significant player” in Ogun politics.
“Our simple response is this: If we are truly unknown and insignificant, why did the APC use the Nigerian Police to stop our campaign train and did APC dignified us? Why were our canopies removed, chairs broken, musical instruments carted away by Lagos branded White truck with inscription of Hon James Faleke and an armored tank stationed to intimidate us , our candidate and supporters?
“Why was our National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, our Southwest Chairman, our State Chairman, and all state executives blocked at Isale Oko, again in Sagamu with Armored Tank rolling beside our entourage and ordered to turn back with the flimsy excuse that Governor Dapo Abiodun and his APC members were “occupying every nook and cranny?”
He added that this was an open abomination against democracy.
“The campaign field is not for intimidation—it is for the people to decide freely with their votes. By using state security to frustrate our lawful activities, the APC has proven that it fears the growing popularity of the ADC in Ogun State,” Onabajo said.
“Let it be on record: APC has failed Nigerians, failed Ogun people, and the people are ready to reject them with their thumbs. No amount of harassment, propaganda, or abuse of power will stop the wind of change. The ADC has come to stay, and on Saturday, the people of Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency will speak loudly at the ballot box”.
