The High Court in Lafia, Nasarawa State, has sentenced a gospel singer, Oluwatimileyin Ajayi to death by hanging for the murder of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Salome Adaidu.
Justice Simon Aboki delivered the verdict, declaring Ajayi guilty of the brutal killing and dismemberment of Adaidu.
Ajayi faced a charge of culpable homicide, in violation of Section 221 of the Penal Code applicable in Northern Nigeria, which carries a mandatory death penalty.
During the course of his trial, Ajayi, in January, had confessed to murdering Adaidu in a fit of anger after she allegedly cheated on him. He also showed no remorse.
