The House of Representatives has used voice note to approve the declaration of a state of emergency for Rivers State, along with the six-month suspension of Governor Sim Fubara, deputy and all elected members of the assembly, as announced by President Tinubu.
The approval followed a letter from President Tinubu asking the House of Representatives to approve his declaration of a state of emergency in the South-South state.
The House voted in support of the declaration during a plenary session on Thursday. According to the Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbass, 240 lawmakers attended the session, meaning there was a quorum.
