The crisis rocking the Articulate Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Ogun State, (AMORAN) has taken another turn with the former Chairman, Chief Otunba Nurudeen Aina alias Alowonle, dragging the incumbent,
Otunba Taofeek Sokoya, alias Danku to National Industrial Court of Ibadan, Oyo State.
Alowonle, in his suit, said he was duly elected, served first term and got overwhelming votes to serve for the second term, but that Sokoya, whom he said was his former Personal Assistant, double crossed him and made himself Chairman.
The former AMORAN Chairman traced the genesis of the crisis to his leave of absence which he claimed was duly applied for between August 5, 2024 and December 4, 2024.
In the suit, the Applicant wants a declaration from the court that Sokoya is not the proper person to be sworn in as Acting Chairman in his absence, since he was just appointed as his personal assistant.
He maintained that he was on a leave of absence to contest the chairmanship position for Shagamu Local Government Area.
Aina prays the industrial court to nullify the swearing-in of Sokoya as Chairman of AMORAN since, according to him, there was no vacancy in accordance with provisions of Section 16(a)&(b) of the association.
He wants the Respondent to revert to the position of Vice Chairman in accordance with the law.
Particularly, Aina wants a declaration that the purported swearing-in of the 5th Respondent amounts to an imposition and should be set aside.
He also wants a declaratory order restraining Sokoya from further parading himself as the Chairman of the Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association, Ogun State.
The court is yet to decide on a date to open hearing on the matter.
