Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, led members of the Obidient movement in a candlelight procession in Lekki, Lagos, to honor the late Afenifere leader, Ayo Adebanjo, who passed away at 96.
Obi and his supporters, including Delly Ajuwon, marched through Chris Madueke Street and Rasheed Alaba Williams Street, chanting tributes to the elder statesman.
Many onlookers joined in, expressing admiration.
The procession later returned to Chief Adebanjo’s residence, where it began.
Speaking at the event, Peter Obi said “Papa Adebanjo lived and died for the country.
Afenifere chieftain, Tola Mobolurin, also spoke, describing Chief Adebanjo as a patriot who devoted his life to Nigeria.
He emphasized that the country is richly blessed and should not struggle with poverty.
Chief Adebanjo’s daughter, Adeola Azeez, paid tribute to her father, remembering him for his integrity and strong belief in equality and true federalism.
