The Committee of Pro-chancellors of State-Owned Universities (COPSUN) has become a member of the Federal Government Renegotiation Team with the University based unions.
Senator Joshua Lidani, chairman of COPSUN announced the development at the quarterly meeting of the pro-chancellors at Abuja.
He stated that the renegotiation team has since resumed work after receiving a report of the technical committee which reviewed all previous agreements between the FG and the unions.
While applauding the FG’s initiative, Lidani observed that the involvement of COPSUN in the Renegotiation Team will address the long-standing request on the FG to be part of the decision over the wage bill COPUN of its workers.
Meanwhile, the Pro-chancellors have been engaged in collaborative efforts with energy investors over a proposal to establish a power generation plant to provide electricity to State-owned Universities in Nigeria.
