The much-publicized Boiling Point Arena interview discourse slated for Sunday February 9, 2025 promises to be an explosive encounter featuring two highly placed analysts of the Nigerian polity and economy, Prof. Farooq Kperogi and Mr Seun Onigbinde who is a financial transparency advocate.
Already, both Prof. Kperogi and Mr Onigbinde have unfolded tips of what to expect during the discourse which starts 8pm on Sunday via Zoom and live transmission on three Nigerian radio stations.
To fire the first salvo is Prof. Kperogi, a notable columnist whose preliminary summation is that the economic reforms being implemented by the President Bola Tinubu Government is increasingly creating hell for Nigerians.
According to the Atlanta, United States-based author and lecturer, the Tinubu administration has plunged a majority of Nigerians into misery, hunger and hardship with little or no hope for respite.
Onigbinde, who has in the recent years deployed digital tools to challenge the budgetary systems in Nigeria, declared that the country’s economy will remain in the doldrums if the current disconnect between the fiscal and monetary policies persists.
“Any economic reform that puts the profits of the markets over the welfare of the people will ultimately create hell on earth for most people,” Kperogi said.
Onigbinde, the Chief Executive Officer of BudgIT, suggested a way out of the precarious economic situation, saying operators of the economy should not work at cross-purposes but should rather address the areas of conflicts.
His words: “The economy needs improved coordination between the fiscal and monetary authorities to really transform the economy and advance sustainable growth.”
For a two-hour duration on Sunday, Boiling Point Arena is to be broadcast live on WASH 94.9FM, Lagos, Sweet 107.1FM and Roots 97.1FM, both located in Abeokuta.
The once-in-a-month current affairs programme which has reached the 28th installment, is convened by a media professional and public relations strategist, Dr Ayo Arowojolu.
Boiling Point Arena has recorded significant strides especially with the last two editions featuring One-on-One live interview with former President Olusegun Obasanjo and also Prof. Toyin Falola, an internationally-acclaimed academic Icon.
The Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Prof Saka Matemilola, is the Keynote Speaker to herald the discourse on Sunday.
The theme of the discourse is titled: “Nigeria’s Economic Crises: Hardship Biting Harder Despite Government Palliatives and Measures, When will Nigerians Begin to Breathe?”
