The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Chapter, is set to host an exceptional literary event featuring renowned poet and academic, Professor Gbemisola Adeoti.
The book reading event will spotlight his latest collection of poems, Stoning the Wind. The program is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 25th, 2025, at 12 PM, in the Faculty of Arts Boardroom (Room 402), Humanities Block, OAU, Ile-Ife.

Professor Gbemisola Adeoti is a distinguished Nigerian scholar, poet, and cultural advocate whose works have left an indelible mark on the literary and academic landscapes. A professor of Literature in the Department of English at OAU, Adeoti’s extensive contributions span areas such as dramatic literature, African literature, Shakespearean studies, and literary history.
His latest collection, Stoning the Wind, continues his tradition of poignant and thought-provoking poetry.
Born in Iseyin, Oyo State, Adeoti’s educational and professional journey is as remarkable as his literary achievements. He earned his undergraduate degree in Dramatic Arts and an M.A. in Literature in English from OAU before obtaining his PhD in English from the University of Ibadan. His academic career, coupled with his passion for literature, has made him a beacon of intellectual and creative excellence.
Stoning the Wind marks a significant milestone in Adeoti’s illustrious literary career. Known for his first poetry collection, Naked Soles, which gained national recognition and was included in examination syllabuses across Nigeria, Adeoti’s poetic voice resonates deeply with readers. His ability to weave the complexities of human experiences into powerful verse has established him as one of Nigeria’s foremost contemporary poets.
Adeoti’s literary and academic contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including the British Academy Visiting Fellowship, African Humanities Program Fellowship, and the prestigious Presidential Fellowship of the African Studies Association in the United States. As an advisor to the African Humanities Program, he continues to mentor emerging scholars and writers across the continent.
