Indian Navy Ship (INS) TUSHIL hosted FOC WEST, R Adm MG Oamen and other dignitaries to a Cocktail reception onboard the ship on 13 Jan 24. The missile frigate ship was here in Lagos, Nigeria on a port call on its maiden voyage to India, after it was launched in Russia.
In his remarks during the event, R Adm Oamen emphasized the importance of the Nigeria – India relationship which span over decades and cut across various sectors ranging from trade, industry education and military cooperation.
The FOC WEST also conveyed the Chief the Naval Staff, V Adm EI Ogalla AM, goodwill massage to CO of the INS TUSHIL Capt Peter Varghese and his ship’s company. Highlight of the event were entertainment of songs and dance by Indian cultural troupe.

Dignitaries present on the occasion including Ms Vartika Rawat and Col Rowi Singh, Ag High Commissioner and Defense Attache of India in Nigeria respectively. Others were Cdre AO Ojebode (COO WEST), Senior Officers and Officers from Western Fleet and members of the Indian community in Lagos.
Earlier in the morning, the FOC WEST received Capt Peter Varghese, CO INS TUSHIL, Col Rowi Singh Indian Defence Attache in Nigeria and the ship’s senior officers on a courtesy call in his office at Headquarters Western Naval Command, Apapa.
