The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has launched an investigation into the activities of Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IKEDC), following a petition by a University don alleging sharp business practices.
The petitioner, Tunde Akanni, an Associate Professor of Communication at the Lagos State University, in a petition dated December 29, 2024 urged the FCCPC to investigate alleged “rampaging extortion drive” by IKEDC of its customers in Ikeja GRA.
In response the FCCPC, in a letter dated 14th January 2025, asked the Managing Director of IKEDC “to cause an investigation into the immediate and remote causes of the incidence and to revert to the Commission with your findings.”
