Hours before the commencement of voting in Rivers State Local Government elections, suspected arsonists, on Saturday morning, attacked the state secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Port Harcourt.
The arsonists detonated explosives suspected to be dynamites at the office.
As could be see in a viral video, the dynamites damaged the main gate, the security house of the secretariat and parts of an adjoining building.
The factional caretaker committee chairman of the party who was sacked by the court, Chief Tony Okocha, accused supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the attack.
Okocha wrote in a text message: “At the wee hours of Saturday, pro-Fubara civilian soldiers detonated dynamites at our office.
“The second attempt to set it ablaze was foiled as the security at the gate quickly put out the fire”.
