The management of Crescent University Abeokuta said it was dismayed with news flying on the internet that the Council of Legal Education (CLE) has suspended admissions into law degree programme of the university.
The university in a statement by a Senior Assistant Registrar (Public Relations), Idris Katib, disclaimed the report, describing it as mischievous, misleading and false.
A senior member of staff of CLE also confirmed to the university management that the news is fake, misleading and did not emanate from CLE.
The statement stressed that Crescent University law programme is one of the best in Nigeria, having produced first class graduates in call to bar examinations from the Nigerian law school.
The statement recalled that, Crescent University scored 100% in all its programmes in the last round of accreditation conducted by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
“Crescent University was last accredited in 2022 and because CLE was impressed, our law school quota was increased to 70.
“It is on record that was no accreditation visit to Crescent University in 2024, not even in 2023. Accreditation comes up every 5 years and by the Special grace of Allah, Crescent University is 100% accredited in all its programmes.”
The statement urged parents, students and all stakeholders to jettison the fake report, which it described as handiwork of detractors to demarket the university.
It also appealed to stakeholders to always cross-check every information on the status of the university programmes on the websites of the regulatory bodies such as Council of Legal Education (CLE), National Universities Commission or the university website at www.cuab.edu.ng.
