Voters across the 18 local government areas of Edo State turned out en masse on Saturday to elect a new governor to succeed Godwin Obaseki.
By 8 pm on Saturday, close to 76.26 percent of the results had been uploaded by INEC.
This figure represents the results from 3,329 polling units out of 4,519 units across the state
.Anugbum Onuoha, the resident electoral commissioner (REC) in Edo, had assured that the governorship election results will be transmitted electronically.
Onuoha spoke in an interview with Arise Television on Saturday, stressing that only poor network could hinder the transmission of results to the viewing portal (IReV).
“We have trained the operators for the BVAS. They are set. BVAS is to accredit the voters, to know the total number of voters that will vote at that level, that polling unit.
“After that, then the voters will now start voting. At the end of the day, they will count the results, and it will be uploaded to our IReV.,” he assured.
