Following the expiration of the Sikirulai Ogundele led executive’s tenure, the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) has appointed a 13 -member caretaker committee to oversee the affairs of the party in Ogun State.
The party, in a letter dated 28th of July, 2024 and signed by National Organising Secretary, Umar M. Bature which was addressed to the National Vice Chairman, South West zone, Kamorudeen Ajisafe, listed Awoleye Dada as Chairman and Paul Oladipo Ogunnubi as Secretary respectively for the Committee.
Other members of the committee, included Alhaji Semiu Sodipo, Taiwo Akinfenwa, Mr. Afolabi Orekoya, Otunba Remi Odubote, Boye Adesina, Alhaja Jemilat Alagbe, Dimeji Fabiyi, Kayode Olurin, Seun Salisu, Otunba Sarafadeen Abiodun Awotunde and Chief Dapo Ayodele.
Bature said the Committee’s assignment takes effect from July 28th and it is charged with the responsibility of running the affairs of the Party in the State, as stipulated in Section 21(2) (a-b) of our Party Constitution, for a period not exceeding 3-months; or till a new Executive Committee is elected.
He directed the South West leadership to inaugurate the Committee as soon as possible, urging them notify the National Working Committee accordingly.
The National Organising Secretary also informed the State Resident Electoral Commissioner of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Commissioner of Police, Director of Department of State Security Service ( DSS) and the Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC) of the new development.
The letter reads: “We wish to inform you that the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has, on behalf of National Executive Committee (NEC) and following the expiration of the Party Executive Committee at levels in Ogun
State, approved the underlisted as Ogun State Caretaker Committee (OGSCC),
which is composed as follows:
1. Hon Awoleye Dada (Chairman), Barr Paul Oladipo Ogunnubi ( Secretary), Alhaji Semiu Sodipo (Member), Hon. Taiwo Akinfenwa, Member, Mr. Afolabi Orekoya ( Member), Otunba Remi Odubote, Hon. Boye Adesina, Alhaja Jemilat Alagbe, Hon. Dimeji Fabiyi, Hon. Kayode Olurin, Hon. Seun Salisu, Otunba Sarafadeen Abiodun Awotunde and Chief Dapo Ayodele”.
“Accordingly, the Committee assignment takes effect from July 28, 2024, and is charged with the responsibility of running the affairs of the Party in Ogun State, as stipulated in Section 21(2) (a-b) of our Party Constitution, for a period not exceeding 3-months; or till a new Executive Committee is elected.
You are therefore, by this correspondence directed to inaugurate the Committee as soon as possible, kindly notify the NWC accordingly”.
