The 11th #D8Summit has held at the New Capital in Cairo, hosted by and under the Chairmanship of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
The Heads of D-8 Member States, along with distinguished special guests including the President of Palestine, Prime Minister of Lebanon, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Secretary General of OIC, Secretary General of the Arab League, and the UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt.
The Summit, aptly themed “Investing in Youth, Strengthening SMEs: Shaping Tomorrow’s Economy” marked the official transfer of the D-8 Chairmanship from Bangladesh to Egypt. In his opening address, H.E. President El-Sisi emphasized the significance of unity and collaboration among the D-8 nations. Leaders of the other Member States echoed these sentiments, highlighting the immense potential of the D-8 with its combined population of 1.2 billion and its capacity for economic growth and prosperity.

A key focus of the Summit was the ongoing brutal aggression by Israel in Gaza and the humanitarian crises in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria. Leaders strongly condemned these actions, calling for immediate international intervention to halt the violence and alleviate the suffering of affected populations.
Significantly, the Summit endorsed the membership application of the Republic of Azerbaijan, welcoming it as the ninth member of the D-8 Organization.
The Cairo Declaration, adopted during the Summit, underscores the importance of collaboration among D-8 Member States and sets a forward-looking vision for achieving economic growth, development, and prosperity.
In the second session, a Special Session on the Situation in Gaza and Lebanon was held, where D-8 leaders and special guests, including the President of Palestine and the Prime Minister of Lebanon, delivered powerful statements on the dire humanitarian crisis. The session concluded with the adoption of a Joint Communique, condemning the inhumane attacks by Israel and urging the international community to take immediate action to end the violence and restore peace.
This Summit reaffirmed the D-8’s commitment to solidarity, cooperation, and the pursuit of peace and development.
