The All Progressives Congress, APC, has inaugurated its Presidential Women Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Mrs Abike Dabiri urging Nigerian women to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Speaking at the pre-inaugural summit of women stakeholders held in Abuja, Senator Tinubu thanked women across the country for their support for the administration and urged them to remain committed to the party’s Renewed Hope agenda.
She said the campaign would operate under the theme “Renewed 2.0”, which she described as a reflection of the administration’s efforts to consolidate its economic and development policies.
According to her, Nigeria’s economy is stabilising, inflation is declining, foreign reserves are growing and investors are returning to the country.
She also cited increased support for farmers and the implementation of the student loan scheme as some of the administration’s achievements.
The First Lady urged APC women to return to their respective states and mobilise support for President Tinubu, saying Nigerian women should demonstrate their political strength by voting for the APC in 2027.
She said the women’s campaign structure would no longer operate as a collection of separate support groups, announcing the consolidation of various women-led support groups under the APC campaign structure.
“What you see on the ballot box is APC. We are here to promote APC—nothing less, from the presidency to governorship, National Assembly and state assemblies,” she said.
Senator Tinubu also announced plans for six zonal mega rallies, culminating in a grand finale in Abuja.
She explained that she and the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, would primarily participate in the zonal rallies, while women leaders in the various states would represent them at state-level campaign activities.
The First Lady disclosed that the APC women campaign office had been established in Abuja to coordinate the activities of the women’s campaign structure and provide information to state and zonal women leaders.
She further commended the women for their turnout and mobilisation, promising that the campaign council would continue to support their political participation.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, pledged the council’s support for women seeking to participate actively in politics.
Yari described the role of women in the political process as crucial, assuring the women that the APC campaign structure would support their ambitions and work towards making their political aspirations achievable.
He also commended the women for their mobilisation and participation in the pre-inaugural summit.
The inauguration marks the commencement of a structured women-led mobilisation drive by the APC as the party prepares for the 2027 presidential and other elections.
