President Bola Tinubu has approved the 100-kilometre section of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway to traverse Edo State, marking a significant development in the Niger Delta region.
The Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced this during the State Independence gala night held at the State Villa in Benin City, Edo State capital.
According to Umahi, the President called him and said the project must pass from Lagos to Ogun, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River.
Umahi reiterated Tinubu’s commitment to the quality and timely delivery of inherited ongoing projects despite the infrastructural and funding deficit inherited from previous administrations.
He further commended the Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo for accepting to intervene on some critical sections of Benin-Sapele-Warri Road, which had been a deathtrap to motorists.
On his part, Okpebholo thanked the President for including Edo State in the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project and for all the improvements on the federal roads in the State since his administration came on board.
The Governor tasked his people on the need to champion the cause of the President’s re-election come 2027.
