According to a statement by the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, the withdrawal was confirmed during a phone conversation with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, on Monday, May 6.

The army leadership deployed soldiers into Okuama following the killing of 17 soldiers by some assailants suspected to be members of the community.
