The Chief Magistrates Court in Yaba has adjourned the trial of Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti.
Kuti has been in police custody since May 15, for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
According to a source at the court, the trial which was slated for today, was adjourned due to the magistrate, Adeola Olatubosun’s absence from the court.
“The trial has been adjourned till tomorrow, May 24 because the judge is not around,” a source said
Kuti was declared wanted for assaulting a police officer on the Third Mainland Bridge two weeks ago. However, the singer last Monday turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja with his lawyer and family representative.
He was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, where he is being detained.
