The Setman at the Victory Life Bible Church International, Apostle Lawrence Achudume has mourned the demise of Prelate Emeritus of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr. Sunday Mbang, describing him as a true Nigerian and fighter of justice.

Achudume noted that the late Prelate was an exemplary religious leader whose legacies of commitment to peaceful coexistence, religious harmony, and oneness will continue to be a point of reference.

He said this in a condolence statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta.

Achudume said the former President of the Christian Association Of Nigeria, ( CAN), was an embodiment of simplicity, rendered selfless service to humanity and was tolerant to all, “especially during the military era when he had several confrontations with the government at that time”.

The Clergyman, observed that the late Mbang’s kind is rare, revealing that the deceased was a detribalised Nigerian who put the “military regimes of late General Sanni Abacha and General Abdulsalami Abubakar on their toes until the civilian administration was ushered in”.

His words: “No two person like Dr  Sunday Mbang ,he was a  true Nigerian, he was not ethnic bias, a fighter for justice, he kept the then military regime of Abacha on his toes even abdulsalami until they handed power to a civilian regime”.

Achudume who had the privilege to be with the late spiritual leader few Days before his demise, disclosed that late Mbang bared his mind on  many issues bordering on governance in the country and waited for the general elections to be over before taking a bow from this world.

The Cleric said “The man told me a lot about Nigeria, he waited for election to be over before departing, he prayed to witness the election and he did, he died in peace”.

Late Mbang was born in Umuahia, Abia State in 1963.  He was age 86 years before his demise.
