The Alake of Egba land, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, today described the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun as the modern day Lisabi Agbongbo Akala of Egbaland.
Oba Gbadebo made the disclosure at the 33rd Lisabi Day festival grand finale and the unveiling of the Lisabi statue, at the Adatan roundabout, in Abeokuta, the state capital.
He revealed that Amosun liberated Ogun state economically, just as Lisabi Agbongbo Alaka liberated the Egba kingdom from the hegemony of the Oyo kingdom.
In his address as the Special Guest of honour, Amosun called on the people to always work assiduously and contribute their quota to the development of their roots.
“When any one of us have the opportunity to serve the people, we should do it with all our enthusiasm, because if we do, we will not be forgotten”, he added.
Unveiling the statue, the governor described Lisabi as one of the warriors that fought diligently and selflessly for the Egbas, noting that, “the history of Egbas won’t be complete without the mention of Lisabi Agbongbo Akala.”
